Flag Hill Winery's newest product, Blueberry Moon, is a twist on the art of fortified wine. We've taken wild Maine blueberries and created a beverage using the traditional fortification process of a port. The resulting drink is a savory after dinner delight. Blueberry Moon, technically a dessert wine (port, by definition can only be made from grapes), is the 4th addition to our current line of dessert wines. The term "Blueberry Moon" was so named by the Ojibwe Indian Tribe. Their traditional calendar followed a 13 moon lunar cycle, each moon being named by natural phenomena, animal activity, and cultural practices and beliefs. The Blueberry Moon represented a time period somewhere between July and August. In many cases the period of the Blueberry Moon referenced a season of sweetness and romance. Stop by Flag Hill to purchase a little bit of blueberry sweetness and add some romance to your night.
